ROSELAND, NJ — Residents have returned home following a police standoff in northern New Jersey.
It all started Wednesday night when a woman on Schweinberg Drive in Roseland told police her boyfriend was trying to kill her and her teenage son.
Officials say police arrived and gunshots were exchanged.
The woman and her son managed to flee the home unharmed and police negotiators spoke to the man for several hours on the phone.
He surrendered early Thursday and is being treated for a gunshot wound.
Police Chief Richard McDonough says the woman may have requested a restraining order.
